There’s no getting around it—every event needs food. It doesn’t matter if you’re hosting a conference, wedding, banquet, or gala; your guests need something to help them refuel.
But good food is more than just a kind gesture. It can actually help you retain guests. Studies show that the quality of an event’s food is the largest indicator as to whether or not they’ll return.
Simply put: if your event has delicious food, your guests will come back next time. If you schedule an event at Overland Park Convention Center, you won’t have to worry about serving high-quality dishes. Our acclaimed head chef will whip up a meal you’ll be proud to have at your event.
Even so, a good meal is about more than just the food itself. Read on, and we’ll tell you how you can optimize your event menu planning at OPCC.
Optimizing Your Menu
If you’re planning an event with more than one meal, you should do your best to consider how those meals relate to each other. It would be easy to pick a dozen or so meals at random, but the perfect event takes care and attention to detail. If you’re hosting a week-long event, instead of just taking your meals one day at a time, think about the bigger picture.
You should attempt to include some variety in the menu. Our chicken spiedini and taste of tuscany dishes are absolutely delicious, but your guests may not want to eat Italian five nights in a row. Fortunately, given the size of our menu, finding variety won’t be a problem.
Options for Everyone
As we developed a menu, we knew we needed to provide lots of options. Everyone has different culinary preferences and dietary needs.
We didn’t want our menu to be restrictive for your event planning. Because of this, we developed a vast menu with lots of different choices for every meal throughout the day. We have far too many options to list here, but let’s take a look at a quick selection of our different meal choices:

This is not an exhaustive list of our menu items. We also have lots of options for dessert, snacks, and drinks. If you want to see more of our food choices, we have an online menu for those who need help with their event menu planning.
Be Intentional
As you’re considering what kind of food you want at your event, remember that food can communicate a tone just as much as your décor.
You should want to pick something that shows that you’re aware of your clientele, so be sure to ask them about any dietary restrictions. For instance, a vegan client probably wouldn’t take too kindly to a chicken dish.
But on the flip side of that coin, a cattle broker expo would probably prefer barbecue over a vegan dish. These key details show your client that you care about the little things.
