Overland Park is the second convention center in the world to achieve the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC) STAR™ Facility accreditation, the industry’s only outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation for facilities.
Under the guidance of GBAC’s scientific advisory board, the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention are implemented within the facility.
Following a risk assessment, the program establishes mitigation strategies through the use of scientifically approved protocols, equipment, chemicals, and training, which are continually measured, audited, and improved, to ensure a facility’s readiness for biorisk situations. The program verifies that Overland Park Convention Center implements best practices to prepare for, respond to, and recover from outbreaks and pandemics.
Food & Beverage
If desired, we can provide a plated dinner reception. Preset salad, dressing ramekin, dinner roll, and butter ramekin are plated together and covered with a lid—water goblets with clear covers and roll-up silverware are also preset. Then enjoy a traditionally served meal.
How We Ensure Maximum Cleanliness:
- All menu items can be placed on grab and go stations or delivered in disposable vessels, limiting contact to guests
- Hors d’oeuvres: individually packaged to be hand-passed or picked up
- Salad: individually packaged with dressing and dinner roll
- Entrées: individually packaged hot or cold entrées
- Dessert: individually packaged
- Wider, directional aisles for physical distancing, if desired
- Sanitizer supplied throughout venue, upon request
- Touch-free payment options for ticketing and concession stands
- Stanchions to create boundaries from guests standing in line from guests walking to and from pre-function space
- Portable hand sanitizer stations available throughout venue at strategic areas of transition
- Restrooms sanitized after high guest use, with focus on using scientifically approved chemicals and procedures to kill infectious diseases
