Overland Park Convention Center Announces Six Certified Meeting Professionals on Staff

A sixth member of the Overland Park Convention Center joins the prestigious ranks of other industry certified meeting professionals

Overland Park, Kan. (Nov. 11, 2016)—The Overland Park Convention Center today announced six members of its staff are now Certified Meeting Professionals (CMP). This distinguished credential, recognized throughout the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions industry, demonstrates an individual’s comprehensive knowledge of meeting management as well as a commitment to the profession. The CMP is achieved based on experience, education and a rigorous examination.

“This is a monumental achievement for any individual in our industry,” Brett C. Mitchell, General Manager of the Overland Park Convention Center, said. “With approximately 140,000 sq. ft. of space, our building is a lot smaller than most big convention centers and with that comes a smaller staff, however we are fortunate enough to have added yet another talented and dedicated CMP to our team.”

  • Ashley Flagler, certified Nov. 2016
  • Devin Carver, certified Aug. 2016
  • Scott Riesterer, certified May 2016
  • Barb Silin, certified Jan. 2015
  • Jessica Corona, certified Nov. 2015
  • Dan Vaglahn, certified Sept. 2005

“We are pleased that these six employees have taken a step to further their career by earning their CMP certification”, says Karen Kotowski, CEO of the Convention Industry Council. “The CMP opens doors and creates connections with other professionals and drives professional development.”

The CMP credential is represented by over 10,000 industry professionals in 55 countries globally.
