Scott Riesterer, CMP is the director of finance at the Overland Park Convention Center. He has been with the convention center since 2013, previously holding roles as director of events and event manager. In 2018, he was nationally recognized as Connect Associations, 40 Under 40 and featured in Connect Meetings Magazine.
Scott achieved the acclaimed Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Events Industry Council in 2016. This distinguished credential, recognized throughout the meetings, conventions, and exhibitions industry, demonstrates an individual’s comprehensive knowledge of meeting management as well as a commitment to the profession.
Scott graduated with honors from Wichita State University in 2009. In 2010, Scott started his hospitality career with the Kansas City Royals as ballpark operations assistant, where he had the opportunity to lend his talent for planning toward the MLB All Star Game. From there, he was immediately hired as an event manager at the Sioux Falls Convention Center/Oak View Group. Scott continued advancing his career within the Oak View Group family as the building services manager at Sporting Park, home of the Sporting Kansas City soccer team, and eventually as an event manager at the Overland Park Convention Center in 2013.
When Scott isn’t working or checking the score to the Chiefs, Royals or KU game (depending on the season of course), he enjoys traveling to his small hometown of Concordia, MO to spend time with family. But nothing compares to his favorite pastime of all—sleeping in on his days off.
