Barb Silin, CMP, CVP, CTA, is a sales professional at the award-winning Overland Park Convention Center (OPCC), where she brings more than two decades of experience in the meetings, events, and hospitality industry.
Most recently, Barb was appointed as the IAVM Region 6 Kansas State Representative for the 2025–2026 term, recognizing her leadership and ongoing contributions to the venue industry. She also holds the prestigious Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation and Certified Venue Professional (CVP) certification, demonstrating her deep industry knowledge and commitment to excellence.
Since returning to OPCC in 2010, Barb has played a key role in marketing the convention center to both national and local corporate markets. She has successfully partnered with organizations across a variety of industries, including nonprofit groups, helping to plan and execute impactful fundraising galas, meetings, and trade shows.
Barb’s well-rounded experience in the hospitality industry includes serving as Director of Food & Beverage for Cerner and working with Starwood Hotels, giving her a unique perspective that benefits her clients throughout the planning process.
Her contributions have earned her OPCC’s Employee of the Year award, and she is a graduate of the Chamber of Overland Park’s Leadership Overland Park program (2017).
Barb began her career at OPCC when the facility opened in 2002 and has remained a dedicated advocate for both the venue and the greater Kansas City events community. A graduate of the University of Iowa, Barb remains a loyal Hawkeyes fan and enjoys spending time with her two children, Ben and Abby, and her dog, Leo.
