At Overland Park Convention Center, Executive Chef David Ruiz leads our in-house culinary program with award-winning experience and a farm-to-table point of view that still works at event scale. The food reflects the standard you set for the event, from the first course to the final bite.

Chef David Ruiz brings national-level recognition to Overland Park Convention Center, including a James Beard Foundation competition win, Food Network’s It’s CompliPlated champion status, and 2024 IFPA Fine Dining Chef of the Year.

Chef Ruiz also leads a zero-waste culinary program that sources from the Overland Park Farmers’ Market and partners with Pete’s Garden—a regional nonprofit that redistributes surplus produce and prepared meals to local families. OPCC also partners with Missouri Organics to support food recovery and composting initiatives.
